The inspirations for Romandin’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection were the layers in ancient Babylonian engravings, Constant Nieuwenhuys’s ‘New Babylon’ architectural artwork, and the contrast between these artistic references and industrialism. This season’s approach was to instill value in materials not formerly perceived as valuable by fabricating them into beautiful garments. The pieces were constructed with silicone caulking, plastic chicken wire and fabric remnants, along with silks, double knit jerseys and Swarovski crystals.
The Autumn/Winter 2010 show was presented at |FAT| Toronto Alternative Arts and Fashion Week in April 2010. The presentation featured a combination of the ready-towear collection along with a video and live performance of the Forces dress.
